Operating through affective registers, the exhibition gleans moods and feelings from objects, embracing questions of taste and bad taste by moving against what is deemed cool, refined, or acceptable. Materiality emerges as the carrier of an embodiment of kitsch (or camp), excess, and bad taste that exposes class distinctions, art elitism, and the devaluation of „feminine“ aesthetics made by and for womxn. By moving around cringe and internet culture, this approach resists certain constructions of intellectualism, and cultural hierarchies, reclaiming the cute, the zany, and the girlish as sites of socio-political and artistic discourse.
