What is listeners ran the world?

[EN] Over three days, artists and residents of Brussels gather to explore listening as a political and poetic act. The broadcast is a live unfolding of their collective process — part composition, part conversation, carried by the immediacy of radio. Transmitting directly from the temporary community of the winter school, The Listening Field turns listening into a public gesture: a way of thinking aloud with the city, and inviting others to join the dialogue on the 31st January at 16-18h at GC deRinck and live on the radio online.

[NL] Gedurende drie dagen komen kunstenaars en inwoners van Brussel samen om luisteren als politieke en poëtische daad te onderzoeken. Deze live-uitzending is een documentatie van hun collectieve proces – deels compositie, deels gesprek, gedragen door de directheid van de radio. The Listening Field zendt rechtstreeks uit vanuit hun tijdelijke “winterschool” in GC De Rinck waar de gemeenschap samenkomt en maakt van luisteren een publiek gebaar: een manier om luidop na te denken met de stad en anderen uit te nodigen om via het luisteren in realtime deel te nemen aan de dialoog.

[FR] Pendant trois jours, des artistes et des habitants de Bruxelles se réuniront pour explorer l’écoute comme un acte politique et poétique. La diffusion est le déroulement en direct de leur processus collectif – à la fois composition et conversation, porté par l’immédiateté de la radio. Diffusé directement depuis la communauté temporaire de l’école d’hiver, The Listening Field transforme l’écoute en un geste public : une façon de penser à voix haute avec la ville et d’inviter d’autres personnes à se joindre au dialogue en temps réel. 

Listening Field is hosted by artists Eszter Nemethi and Julia E.Dyck. It is financially supported by the VGC and co-realised with BNA.BBOT, artist-Commons and GCdeRinck and is realised in the frame of the School of Magical Politics.
