MUSEUM UNDER CONSTRUCTION
Museum Under Construction grows from The Museum of Innocence and explores the museum as a space created through play, imagination and collective action. Inspired by the post-war ‘adventure of trash playground’, Lisa Matthys works alongside children from Brussels to build a structure from discarded materials, without a clearly defined end result. Building thus becomes not only a means, but also a game and a form of appropriation. In contrast to the monumental architecture of large-scale construction projects, the work presents an open and constantly changing space, in which the museum is not regarded as a finished institution, but as a place that is collectively created, used and reinvented.
