The Birds is Alexander Pfeiffenberger’s first solo exhibition in Brussels, taking place at Zsenne ArtLab, December 12-19.

Transfiguring and permutating animal and floral motifs found in various coats of arms, the drawings on show play with representations of power, tradition, and belonging. Equal parts seductive and subversive, Pfeiffenberger’s work pits the allure and prestige of the visual language of heraldry against itself.

Like a conference of the birds, plotting in the twilight of nationalism.
