LABO BxL is a laboratory dedicated to film processing and research (Super 8 – 16mm – 35mm). Since 2006, it has been a space for image production, where the filmstrip is the main material: exposing, developing, processing, transferring, transforming, and testing. LABO is a toolbox for research and experimentation, based on the sharing of knowledge and exchange of practices. Here, a cinema of craftsmen is born, autonomous and outside commercial logic.

Inventory

We work on the development, printing, scanning, and transformation of film, while exploring artistic research and experimentation. The lab is shared and collaborative, focusing on the exchange of knowledge between members. A cinema of craftsmen independent, autonomous, and outside commercial logic.

Our tools:

-15m / 30m development spools

-B/W and color chemistry – negative, positive, reversal

-16mm contact and optical printers

-Super 8mm / 16mm scanning

We have learned that maintaining a shared, autonomous film lab requires both financial support and horizontal collaboration among members. Our aim is to run activities sustainably, without compromising the work of our members, allowing everyone to pursue personal projects while continuing workshops and public programming.
